All-New Mazda3 to be unveiled at LA Auto Show

2010 Mazda3Though it won't be seen in the flesh until the LA Auto Show, on November 19, Mazda has already released several photos of the newly-freshened Mazda3 sedan.

Now featuring a much more sculpted look, the new '3 shares a strong family resemblance to the newly-revised Mazda6. While engine specifics, accessories and pricing will be announced later this year the new Mazda3 will continue with the current choice of 2.0 or 2.3-liter engine sizes.

The next-generation hatchback will make its debut later this year, but we expect it to sport a very similar look.

Future Concept Carries on Mazda's "Flow" Theme

2010 Mazda3No other company, it seems, is as passionate or as prolific as Mazda when it comes to churning out future concepts.

Case in point: the Kiyora. Meaning "clean and pure" in Japanese, the new concept applies Mazda’s ongoing flow-theme (Nagare) to the city car market.

Unlike many other concepts, which feature futuristic visions of combustion as wacky as their exteriors, the Kiyora is powered by a small, efficient 1.3-liter gasoline mill, very similar to the engine found in the current European Mazda2.

We don't expect this particular concept to arrive on dealer lots any time soon. But it's likely that similar lines could be applied to the next generation Mazda. Too bad, too, we'd love to see scissor-style doors finally make it into a city car.
